ok, so I recently started training for MMA. Now I've had this question for a while. I've always loved liftin weights and do it every year during the off season for football. well, I got injured a while back and can't squat or deadlift anymore. so without being able to do these 2 things, could somebody tell me a good lifting routine for mma. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you can't squat or deadlift you could try using a leg press it takes a lot of the pressure off of your knees and isolates the quad and hammstring. If that doesnt work and you can run, try running up steep hills and leg extensions and hammstring curls + box jumps.

What is the nature of your injury - is it your back? Are you okay doing exercises with impact?

Yeah it's my back, exercises with impact are fine, I can do just about anything aside from the 2 things, the crappy thing is that those are what one could call essential, but yeah, thanx for the help.

Do as much of the excercises with dumbbels if possible, for strong forearms and hands = big difference in punches

( I have a stress fracture on 1 of my lower vertibre and these are some of my favored methods)

Nagurimono -- yes, there is definitely a weight lifting element to CrossFit. We do powerlifting, Olympic lifting, kettlebells, medicine balls, all kinds of things with weight.

You can check out their website - www.crossfit.com - they post workouts daily and also have videos of exercises, discussion boards, etc.
